A Message From The Headteacher

Welcome to Charnock Hall Primary School. We aim to give you some key information about our school and share with you the vision and values by which our school operates.

I am exceptionally proud to be the Headteacher at Charnock Hall Primary School and hope that you feel welcomed into our school when you visit.

We strive to make it a calm and happy place to be, whilst working hard with the children to allow them to reach their full potential in every way. I have been here for 7years. Four years as Deputy Headteacher and I now feel a huge sense of pride at becoming the Head and moving the school forward on its journey to become outstanding.

The school first opened in 1949. Since then it has undergone many changes to get to its current form of a primary school for children aged 4 to 11 years, Reception (Foundation Stage 2) to Year Six.

We have capacity for 420 children through the school, with 60 children in each year group.

We are working with the children to develop them to become effective, life-long learners. We aim to do this through offering learning experiences that are relevant, fun and allow the children to be involved in their own learning as fully as possible. We talk with the children in our care regularly about ‘learning how to learn’ and giving them opportunities to take their learning in the direction that they wish to go. The children are fully involved in shaping and directing the curriculum and staff consult with the children on what the children want to know and learn. This is a key feature of how children learn at Charnock Hall.

Praise, support and encouragement are at the heart of our ethos and play a major part in how we develop the children as learners. We celebrate all achievements no matter how small and endeavour to enable all children to feel good about their successes.

In this ever changing world that we are living in, many jobs that our children will be doing have yet to be invented. With this in mind we have to endeavour to provide them with a curriculum that supports them on their academic journey and continues to equip them to deal with their educational career. We do hold onto some long standing traditions though and value the place of these within a modern day curriculum, such as the House System within the junior department and the celebrations of children’s achievements each week in our ‘Learner of the Week’ assemblies.

We place great emphasis upon the children having high standards of behaviour, and we strive to instil important values and standards to this end to develop our children to become good citizens now, and in the future.

If you are a prospective parent, please make an appointment to come and visit the school whilst the children are learning. If you are an existing parent, I hope that you feel able to visit the school at any time.

The staff are dedicated, hardworking and committed to encouraging your child to be the best that they can be. They are always willing and able to answer any questions that you may have and spend time with you sharing what we are aiming to achieve.

You will always be most welcome within school, and I hope that if you have the time, you will come in to school and talk to me about our vision for your child.
